Ridgemont’s red hot resident sire Rafeef had a memorable weekend. Not only did the son of Redoute’s Choice supply a pair of winners at Fairview on Friday, but Rafeef filly Easy Tiger made a winning debut at Turffontein the following day.
Trained, like her sire, by Mike De Kock, two-year-old Easy Tiger made a big impression when she won Saturday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Under Muzi Yeni, the Rafeef filly raced towards the back of the field early on, before Yeni bought Easy Tiger home with a strong run to win impressively by two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by part-owner Ridgemont, Easy Tiger is out of the Where’s That Tiger mare Tiger’s Touch.
Rafeef has had just four juvenile runners this season thus far, but they include the impressive debut winners Glastonbury and Easy Tiger.
Easy Tiger was one of two winners on Saturday for her G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire, with Rafeef also the sire of eye catching winner Mai Sensation.
Good enough to contest the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship and G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas this season, three-year-old Mai Sensation made it two wins from six starts with a game win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Under JP Van Der Merwe, the Lucinda Woodruff trained filly flew up late to land the Hobday Equestrian Enterprises B Stakes (F and M) (1200m) by half a length.
Bred by Clifton Stud, Mai Sensation is out of the Vercingetorix mare Mai Tai.
Also sire of Friday winners Thing Called Love and Explosive Speed, Rafeef is enjoying another good season in 2024-2025, with his star runners including graded stakes winners Chasing Happiness, Mon Petit Cherie and Outlaw King.
