Maine Chance Farms’ blue blooded sire Erupt had a memorable day on Saturday when the son of Dubawi came up with two smart winners.

Erupt’s Saturday double was headed by his son Unzen running out a game winner of Saturday’s Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (G&G) (1450m) at Turffontein.
Third on his only previous start, the Robbie Sage trained Unzen was given a positive ride from Kaidan Brewer, who sent his mount to the front 300m from home, and kept Unzen going to hold off a late charge from Tyrconnell and score by a half a length. It was nearly four lengths away to the third place finisher Raffles.
Bred by the Tawny Syndicate, Unzen is out of the Toreador mare Adella.
His sire also enjoyed success at Durbanville on Saturday where Erupt’s son Beerenberg caught the eye when winning over 1250 metres. Trained by Lucinda Woodruff, the gelded son of Erupt came from last to win Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Bright Future MR 72 Handicap by half a length-going away!
Bred by Normandy Stud, the progressive Beerenberg has now won three of his last four starts and three of just eight starts overall.
Erupt, one of more than 50 G1 winners sired by outstanding stallion Dubawi, has made a very bright start to his stud career.
Unzen and Beerenberg hail from their sire’s first crop, which has also produced G3 Protea Stakes/Listed Storm Bird Stakes hero Karangetang.
From the same female line as champion sires Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Holy Roman Emperor, Erupt has six lots on offer at the upcoming Cape Racing Ready To Run &2YO Unbroken Sale.
