The Fabian Habib trained gelding turned Saturday’s Congratulations S’Manga Khumalo On Your July Day Winner Maiden Plate (1160m) into a one horse race.
Under S’Manga Khumalo, Echo Check stormed home to win as he liked by over four lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the two-year-old is out of the Caesour mare Alexa and is closely related to the Master Of My Fate sired G1 Betway Summer Cup winner Atticus Finch.

Master Of My Fate’s second success on Saturday came when his classy son Bacchus won the Summer Cup 29 November Middle Stakes (1600m) for S’Manga Khumalo and Fabian Habib.
Racing for TKP Racing (Nom: Trevelen Pillay),D Chinsammy,E Naicker,Jayden Nassif,G J Nassif,J Nassif, G, K & M M Nassif & Tri-Deal Sixteen CC, Bacchus kept finding in the closing stages to post a near one length score.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Bacchus had shown smart form early on when winning two of his first four starts and was rated good enough to contest this season’s Triple Crown.
Bacchus, who is out of the Lateral mare Bilateral, was a R250 000 buy from the 2023 August Two Year Old Sale.
