Ridgemont Highlands’ Redoute’s Choice horse Rafeef came up with his second G1 winner when Rafeef’s speedy three-year-old son Master Archie emulated his sire in landing the G1 Computaform Sprint at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Paul Peter, the grey colt was given a fine ride by inform jockey Gavin Lerena, with Lerena keeping his mount well off the pace early in the 2022 Computaform Sprint.

When Lerena asked the question, Master Archie strode into the lead and from there it was a matter of who would run second, with Master Archie eventually going on to claim his first G1 victory by an emphatic two and a quarter lengths.
Among those beaten by Master Archie in Saturday’s R1 000 000 sprint were the first three finishers in this season’s G1 Pongracz Cape Flying Championship, as well as such graded stakes winners as Big Burn, True To Life, and Heavens Girl.

Bred by Messrs Harry, Hanna and Azzie, Master Archie has now won six of 11 starts, with the Rafeef colt victorious in the G3 World Sports Betting Man O’War Sprint at his previous outing.

Master Archie, who is out of the Var mare La Volta, is one of three graded stakes winners to have emerged from Rafeef’s sensational first crop, with this crop also including G1 WSB SA Derby/G3 Sea Cottage Stakes winner Aragosta and G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes victor William Robertson.

Rafeef’s second crop also looks hugely promising and it includes Saturday’s eye catching G2 Heineken SA Nursery runner up Union Square and the unbeaten filly Who Do You Love.
