Second winner for Heavenly Blue

5th May 2023

Ascot Stud’s well-bred young sire Heavenly Blue came up with his second winner on Friday when the stallion’s two-year-old daughter Three Rocks romped home to a facile victory at Fairview.
A close-up second on her only previous start, the Alan Greeff-trained Three Rocks was all the rage for Friday’s second race, with the promising filly eventually jumping as the 3-10 tote favourite for the TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1000 metres.
It proved no contest, with Three Rocks, under Richard Fourie, pulling well clear of her hapless rivals to win impressively by four and a half lengths.
Bred by Ascot Stud, Three Rocks is out of the Rock Of Gibraltar mare Rockie Bright.
The filly was an R100 000 purchase from the 2022 August Two Year Old Sale.
Three Rocks joins Zinovi as a first-crop winner for her G1-winning sire Heavenly Blue.
At the time of writing, Heavenly Blue had six members of his first crop either win or finish in the money.
The handsome grey is a son of four times Australian Champion Sire Snitzel, who is set to stand the 2023 breeding season for a fee of AUS 247,500. Already the sire of more than 130 stakes winners, Snitzel’s flagbearers in 2023 include G1 Longines Golden Slipper winner Shinzo (one of two Slipper winners for his sire), and high-class sprinter Lofty Strike.
Snitzel is also an emerging sire of sires, with his stallion sons already including proven G1 sources Shamus Award and Russian Revolution.
