Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano had an eye catching debut winner at the Vaal on Thursday.
His three-year-old daughter Mrs Simpson ran on stoutly in the closing stages to shed her maiden by 2.6 lengths on debut over 1200m for trainer Mike de Kock and jockey Gavin Lerena.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the filly was a R450 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.
Produced by Jet Master’s G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes winning daughter Express Queen, Mrs Simpson is bred on the same Silvano/Jet Master as Derby winner Silvano’s Jet, Jamaica Handicap heroine Omaticaya and the brilliant debut winner Hawwaam.
The latter runs in Saturday’s G2 Dingaans, for which Hawwaam has been installed a 5-1 second favourite by World Sports Betting.
Silvano, whose son Palo Alto scored at Kenilworth on Wednesday, will be represented in Saturday’s G2 Concorde Cup by Arabian Air.
A multiple champion sire of 20 individual G1 winners, Silvano has three lots on offer at Friday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale –including a colt out of a mare by Jet Master (Lot 15).
His champion son Vercingetorix, whose first crop race this season, has four first crop two-year-olds on Friday’s auction.
