Ridgemont’s exciting young stallion Malmoos came up with a sixth first-crop winner on Saturday.
His promising two-year-old daughter Rivera got off the mark at just the second time of asking when she won at Turffontein.

A good second on debut, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained filly duly went one better when she won the #Youcanbetonus! Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1160m).
Under Keagan De Melo, Rivera was always up with the pace and she kept galloping strongly in front to score by over a length and three quarters.

Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, Rivera races for Mukund Gujadhur, Rikesh Sewgoolam and the Wernars Family.

The filly, who is out of the Lecture mare Leylani, was a R450 000 buy from the 2025 August Two Year Old Sale.

Rivera was one of two winners for Malmoos on Saturday, with the stallion’s son Life In Colour winning the Next Turffontein Racemeeting Thursday 16 July MR 88 Handicap (1400m).
The Corne Spies trained gelding made it two wins from five outings when he made much of the running to win by more than two and a half lengths.

Bred by Northfields Stud (Pty) Ltd, Life In Colour races for Messrs R P Macnab, D G Bailie, C D Brown, P Gobrie, S Poriazis, X Spies, V Mahabeer, A R Asaram, M Pillay, J Soobiah, P W Viljoen & Adv J J B Schutte.

The speedy Life In Colour, who is out of the Medaglia D’Oro mare Mina Salaam, was a R500 000 purchase from the 2025 Premier Yearling Sale.

His Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos, whose close relative Note To Self won the recent G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, hails from the immediate family of Master Of My Fate, one of South Africa’s leading stallions.
