Champion Eight On Eighteen, whose three-parts brother Snow Pilot stands his first season at Drakenstein Stud this season, showed his class when he won the G1 HKJC Champions Cup (1800m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.

South Africa’s Horse Of The Year, Champion 3YO Colt and Champion Middle Distance Horse of 2024-205, Eight On Eighteen pushed his earnings to R7 894 087 with his victory in Sunday’s R1 500 000 contest.
Under a great ride from Richard Fourie, the Justin Snaith trained four-year-old hit the front a long way from home in the Champions Cup.
From there, Eight On Eighteen kept galloping strongly to defeat his multiple G1 winning stablemate See It Again convincingly by just over a length.

Further back in running came fellow G1 winners Main Defender,The Real Prince, Gladatorian and champion Dave The King.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the brilliant Eight On Eighteen has won six of 16 outings, with his victories including the 2025 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met, 2025 G1 SplashOut Cape Derby and 2025 G1 Daily News 2000.

Owned by Johann Rupert and Nick Jonsson, Eight On Eighteen was a R700 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.

By the much missed Lancaster Bomber, Eight On Eighteen is out of the Captain Al mare Sempre Libre.

He is thus bred on very similar lines to 2023 G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas winner Snow Pilot.
Also sired by Lancaster Bomber, Snow Pilot is out of the dual G1 winning Captain Al mare Snowdance.

Eight On Eighteen’s dam Sempre Libre is herself a daughter of legendary broodmare Mystic Spring, while Snowdance is out of a daughter of Mystic Spring.
