Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi has enjoyed another good season thus far in 2018-2019, with his runners including the likes of Chimichuri Run (G3 Spring Spree Stakes), Love To Boogie (G3 Diana Stakes), and progressive 3yo Herodotus.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi enjoyed more big race success at Borrowdale Park on Saturday when his son Twilight Trip won the G3 HRIB Gold Cup Sprint over 1200 metres.
Clearly enjoying the sting out of the ground, Twilight Trip dug down deep to account for runner up Road To Dubai by half a length.
Now in the care of trainer Bridget Stidolph, the Patricia Devine bred five-year-old has now won four times, with Twilight Trip having won from 1200-1600m. (His paternal half-brother On This Rock won the HRIB Gold Cup Sprint in 2014).
Trippi, whose offspring include more than 70 black type winners, is likely to be represented in the upcoming G1 Cape Guineas by his star son Chimichuri Run. The latter, a graded winner at two and three, is yet to be unplaced from eight starts and has already banked over R720 000 in prize money.
The G1 winning son of End Sweep has six lots on offer at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale –including a filly out of G1 Mercury Sprint winner Fly By Night (Lot 57) and a full-brother to Chimichuri Run (Lot 184).
