Success for Royal Mo half-brother

8th March 2021

Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young stallion Royal Mo gained a further boost to his pedigree page when his half-brother New Mexico scored at Sam Huston on Saturday.

Making it back to back wins, New Mexico kept finding more in the closing stages of Saturday’s Allowance Race (1600m) and stayed on to score by a neck.

The lightly raced entire had won his last start impressively when saluting at Remington Park back in December.
New Mexico and Royal Mo were produced by the well bred Saint Ballado mare Royal Irish Lass whose progeny also include the stakes winning filly Tara From The Cape.

The talented Royal Mo, who won the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and ran third in the G1 Santa Anita Derby, is the only son of sire sensation Uncle Mo at stud in South Africa.

North America’s Leading First Season Sire and Leading Of 2YOs in 2015, Uncle Mo has made a superb start as a sire of sires, with his sons Nyquist, Laoban and Outwork finishing 1-2-4 on the 2020 North American 1st-Crop Sires by Progeny Earnings List.

Royal Mo has seven first crop-yearlings on offer at this week’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale, including a colt (Lot 13) from the family of legendary champion Might And Power, a colt (Lot 17) whose 3 time winning dam is out of G3 winning daughter of Galileo and a colt (Lot 25) out of the stakes placed, six time winning mare Banking April.
