Sunday double for Querari

13th June 2022

Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Querari enjoyed another tremendous weekend this past week with the G1 winning son of Oasis Dream responsible for two winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, notably G2 East Coast Radio Tibouchina Stakes winner Homely Girl, and another two winners at Turffontein the following day.

Querari’s two-year-old son Quantum Theory stamped himself a colt to follow when he ran out a convincing winner of Sunday’s World Sports Betting Highveld Juvenile Stakes (1400m).

Under Muzi Yeni, the Robbie Sage trained colt found more in the closing stages to shed his maiden by a head, with Quantum Theory having finished second, to subsequent G1 winner Thunderstruck, on his only previous start.

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, the two-year-old is out of the Tamburlaine mare Control Freak.

Quantum Theory, a R210 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale, is the 18th two-year-old winner for Querari this season, with Querari currently heading South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs List for 2021-2022.

Querari is also responsible for the useful gelding Back To Black, who claimed his fourth win when he won the WSB Online Casino MR 96 Handicap( (1600m) in good style.
Now in the care of Roy Magner, the Ten Einde Farm bred four-year-old powered home, full of running under Gavin Lerena, to win by a decisive two lengths.

Out of the Black Minnaloushe mare Black Is Black, Back To Black has now won or placed in 18 races.

South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, Querari has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and four lots on offer at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale.
