Sunday double for The United States

27th May 2024

Moutonshoek’s inform stallion The United States has been enjoying a great run of form of late, and Galileo’s G1-winning son was at it again on Sunday when The United States came up with a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
His first success on Sunday came when three-year-old colt The US Of A got off the mark when victorious in the Cape Racing Sales Maiden Plate over 1100 metres.
Runner up last time out, the Patrick Kruyer-trained colt stormed home, under Richard Fourie, to score a fluent two-and-a-quarter length win.
Bred by Riverton Stud, The US Of A is out of the Greys Inn mare Pippi.
The United States struck again when his four-year-old son Nevada King claimed Sunday’s RaceCape Powered By Hollywoodbets Class 4 (1600m) for Justin Snaith and JP Van Der Merwe.
Bred by Moutonshoek, Nevada King, who is out of the Damascus Gate mare Blingsta, was winning for a third time.
The gelding was a R240 000 buy from the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale.
His sire The United States has some very promising two-year-olds to his name this season, with his juvenile son Banff entered for the G1 Gold Medallion and daughter Rodeo Drive entered for the G1 Allan Robertson Championship.
The United States has a single lot on offer at the upcoming Cape Racing Winter Yearling Sale and eight lots on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale.
