Maine Chance Farms’ resident stallion Silvano, South Africa’s reigning Champion Sire, has an outstanding record in the Vodacom Durban July.
The dual SA Champion Sire, who was responsible for the first three past the post in the 2015 Vodacom Durban July, already has four July winners to his name in the form of Bold Silvano, Heavy Metal, Power King and last year’s winner Marinaresco.
Silvano, who (according to NHA statistics) is once again heading the South African General Sires List, will once again be handsomely represented in feature races on Vodacom Durban July a week from Saturday.
The triple G1 winning son of Lomitas a pair of runners in the R4.25 million July itself, in the form of Elusive Silva and Star Express, and Silvano is also strongly numerically represented in other features on the July day card.
His daughters Premier Dance and Simply Royal both compete in the G1 Jonsson Workwear Garden Province (another daughter of the sire Sylvan On Fire is first reserve for the R1 000 000 feature), and Silvano has a trio of runners in both the G3 DStv Gold Vase and G3 Betting World 2200.
His Gold Vase trio are 2017 G3 Track And Ball Derby winner Mr Winsome, G1 SA Derby winner Seal’s own brother One Direction, and Silver Rose.
Silvano’s Betting World 2200 trio is headed by G3 Mahala TV Cape Summer Stayers Handicap winner Strathdon and include G3 Cup Trial third Platinum Prince and G2 Gauteng Guineas third Royal Crusade.
While Silvano has no lots on offer at next week’s KZN Yearling Sale, his champion sons Bold Silvano and Vercingetorix have four and seven yearlings on sale respectively.
