The United States relative stars at Tattersalls

5th Oct 2022

Moutonshoek’s exciting Galileo horse The United States had a good day on Tuesday, with the former G1 Ranvet Stakes winner supplying a winner at the Vaal and a close relative of The United States making headlines on the first day of the 2022 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Book 1.

Consigned by Hazelwood Bloodstock, a Dubawi colt (Lot 167) out of The United States’ own sister Ring The Bell was knocked down, to Godolphin, for 1 500 000 guineas to top Tuesday’s session of the October Yearling Sale.
“He’s by Dubawi and comes from an excellent farm,” said Godolphin talent scout Anthony Stroud. “It’s a cross that works and it’s a wonderful family. The boss is here and he’s choosing these horses. He’s just a wonderful specimen of a thoroughbred really.”

A half-brother to the stakes placed Voice Of Angels, the pricey Dubawi colt, bred on the same Dubawi/Galileo cross as such standouts as Ghaiyyath and Night Of Thunder, hails from one of the best families in the stud book. His dam Ring The Bell is a full-sister to not only The United States but also to the dual G1 winning fillies Hermosa and Hydrangea, and half-sister to dual G3 winner and G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes runner up Fire Lily. Ring The Bell herself is out of outstanding broodmare Beauty Is Truth, with that daughter of Pivotal herself having won both the G2 Prix du Gros-Chene and G3 Prix d’Arenberg.

This is also the family of Saturday’s G1 Royal Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes victress Fonteyn.

The United States, who is also responsible for recent Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C&G) runner up Tyrconnell, also had success at the Vaal on Tuesday when his three-year-old son Texas Red captured the seventh race on the card. The Ashley Fortune trained gelding made it two wins from just five starts when scoring a narrow win over1200 metres.
