The United States sister up for Cartier Award

12th Nov 2018

Talented two-year-old Hermosa, a full-sister to Moutonshoek’s blue blooded young stallion The United States, is one of four nominees for the Cartier Racing Award of Champion Two-Year-Old Filly.

Hermosa

Hermosa, along with G1 winners Fairyland (Cheveley Park Stakes), Pretty Pollyanna (Prix Morny) and Skitter Scatter (Moyglare Stud Stakes), is up for an award which honours the best juvenile filly seen out in Europe/the UK this season.

The 28th Cartier Racing Awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony before an invited audience of approaching 300 at the Dorchester Hotel, London, England, on the evening of Tuesday, November 13, 2018.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien, Hermosa won two of seven outings (and banked over £230 000 during her first season of racing), with her victories including a 2.5 length win in the G3 Weld Park Stakes over seven furlongs at Naas.

The Galileo daughter ended her campaign with runner up finishes in both the G1 bet365 Fillies’ Mile and G1 Criterium International and ranks a strong contender for the 2019 English and Irish classics.

Hermosa is one of four group winners produced by Pivotal’s G3 Prix d’Arenberg Stakes winner Beauty Is Truth, a three-parts sister to dual G1 winner Immortal Verse.

Beauty Is Truth is also dam of Hermosa’s G1 winning own brother and sister The United States and Hydrangea, as well as top class 2yo Fire Lily.

The United States, whose first foals arrived to rave reviews this season, earned more than AUS$2 million with his victories including the G1  Ranvet Stakes of 2016.
