Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Querari has been on fire during the month of March.
Querari’s now exported son Monks Hood won the G2 Gauteng Guineas on March 3rd, while the very next week Querari fillies Dagmar, River Rafting and Urban Oasis filled the first three placings in the Listed Ruffian Stakes.
Querari’s good run of form in feature races continued at Fairview this Friday, when his son Desert Wisdom won the afternoon’s feature race, the Lakeside Handicap.
The Jacques Strydom trained four-year-old powered clear to register his fourth career win by a length and three quarters, with the Peter de Beyer trained gelding taking his earnings to nearly R250 000 in the process.
Out of the Kefaah mare Meaningful, Desert Wisdom has now won or placed in ten races and he has won three of his last four races and he has built up a formidable record on the polytrack.
Desert Wisdom hails from Querari’s second crop, which also includes G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon, Listed Darley Arabian winner Maximizer and the very smart Romi’s Boy.

A G1 winning half-brother to 2 group/graded stakes winners including young sire Quasillo, Querari has two runners nominated for the upcoming G2 Senor Santa Stakes and a further two hopefuls for the G3 Sycamore Sprint.
The son of Oasis Dream’s 17 strong draft for next month’s April Yearling Sale includes a colt out of a stakes placed Sadler’s Wells mare (Lot 40), a half-sister to G3 Tony Ruffel winner Key Decision (Lot 117) and a half-sister to G3 filly Miracle Rising (Lot 198).
Querari’s 26 strong draft for the 2018 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale is also packed full of quality and includes a full-sister to Sycamore Sprint entry Spring Wonder (Lot 44), a ½ sister to recent G3 Prix Du Cap heroine Elusive Heart (Lot 237) and a filly whose dam is a ½ sister to champion Sun Classique (Lot 294).
