Brilliant 3yo Alpha Centauri, a close relative of successful Cape stallion Judpot, won her third G1 feature in a row when romping home to score a four and a half length win in the G1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes over a mile at Newmarket on Friday.
A grey daughter of Mastercraftsman, Alpha Centauri raced further forward this time in a share of the lead with Aidan O’Brien’s Clemmie.

She was shaken up around two furlongs from home by Colm O’Donoghue and readily put daylight between herself and her rivals with a stunning burst of speed.
Alpha Centauri raced home to score by 4.5 lengths, with G3 Oh So Sharp Stakes winner Altyn Orda back in second ahead of the G1 winning filly Clemmie.
Previously successful in both the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Coronation Stakes, Alpha Centauri has now won five of eight outings, and has already earned 690 314 in stakes.
The filly could be aimed at the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, a race won by her ancestress Miesque as well as close relatives Karakontie and Six Perfections.

She is out of the unraced Alpha Lupi, a daughter of Rahy and Judpot’s dual French classic winning half-sister East Of The Moon. The triple G1 winner’s third dam is legendary race mare, and dual Breeders’ Cup winner Miesque –whose French 2000 Guineas winning son Kingmambo is broodmare sire of current sire sensation and four time G1 winner Camelot.
Miesque, dam of Judpot, is also second dam of this year’s French Derby winner Study Of Man.
A son of dual US Champion Sire A P Indy, Judpot has enjoyed another successful season in 2017-2018 with his runners including the likes of Coral Fever (G1 Premier’s Champions Challenge, G2 Colorado King Stakes) and Sniper Shot (G2 Post Merchants).
Judpot, a former winner of the Equus Outstanding Stallion award, has 17 lots on offer at next month’s National Two Year Old Sale, with his draft including a filly out of Gold Bracelet winner Dance Along (Lot 215), a filly out of speedy G3 performer Dolomiti (Lot 224) and a half-sister to SA Derby runner up Pagoda (Lot 424).
