Third G1 winner for Ideal World

1st April 2019

Mauritzfontein’s resident stallion Ideal World continues to make his presence felt in major races around South Africa, and the son of Kingmambo and champion Banks Hill was represented by his third G1 winner, when his 3yo son Samurai Warrior won the G1 SA Derby at Turffontein on Saturday.

Samurai Warrior

Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde, Samurai Warrior received a strong front running ride from Piere Strydom to make the running and win the R2 000 000 SA Derby  (a race won recently by promising sires Wylie Hall and Pomodoro) by a length, with G1 Gbets Cape Derby Atyaab 1.7 lengths away in fourth place.

The Weiho Marwing trained colt has now won or placed in eight of ten outings, with his win in Saturday’s classic pushing Samurai Warrior’s earnings to R1 391 025.

Samurai Warrior, third behind older rivals in the Listed Aquanaut Handicap at his penultimate outing, was one of two weekend winners for Ideal World, whose progeny include a total 36 black type performers, including G1 Met winners Rainbow Bridge and Smart Call, and Equus Champion Hermoso Mundo.

Ideal World, whose dam is a full-sister to pensioned champion sire Dansili, is also responsible for the Harold Crawford trained Pink Floyd, who broke his maiden when successful over 1400m at Durbanville on Saturday.
Bred by Riethuiskraal Stud, the 3yo gelded Pink Floyd is out of the Judpot mare Indy Dancer and is as such inbred to the great mare Miesque, dam of Judpot and Ideal World’s own sire Kingmambo.

Rainbow Bridge

The multiple stakes winning Ideal World has an excellent draft on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale with his lots including a filly (Lot 23) out of a G1 winning daughter of Jet Master,  a filly (Lot 112) out of Jet Master’s G1 placed daughter Jet Trail, and a colt (Lot 392) out of a winning own sister to Gold Medallion winner Zeeno.
