Honours continue to flow the way of Gimmethegreenlight and his star progeny, and, on Saturday, Gimmethegreenlight progeny claimed three Cape Racing Awards.
Not only was Gimmethegreenlight’s son Green With Envy named Cape Racing’s Horse Of The Year and Champion Three-Year-Old Male, but Gimmethegreenlight filly Kinda Wonderful was named Cape Racing’s Champion Juvenile Female for 2023-2024.
Bred and owned by Khaya Stables, Green With Envy, also named Equus Champion 3YO Colt for 2023-2024, won five times last season, picking up four graded stakes races.
Out of the Galileo mare Miss Coco, Green With Envy won all of the G1 Daily News 2000, G1 SplashOut Cape Derby, G2 World Sports Betting Guineas and G3 Schweppes Politician Stakes last season.
His paternal half-sister Kinda Wonderful showed great promise last season, with the Varsfontein Stud-bred filly winning two of five starts including the Listed Irridescence Stakes.
Remarkably, three of Gimmethegreenlight’s offspring won Equus Awards recently, with his sons Proceed and Green With Envy crowned Equus Champion 2YO Colt and Equus Champion 3YO Colt respectively for 2023-2024, and his unbeaten daughter Gimme A Nother named Equus Champion 3YO Filly for the recently concluded 2023-2024 season.
