Ridgemont Highlands’ G1 winning young stallion Potala Palace has made a pleasing start to his stud career, with his first crop of 3yos continuing to fire on all cylinders throughout South Africa.

Potala Palace looks to have a very smart first crop son in the form of Palace Chapel, with the latter impressing with a fluent one length win in an assessment plate over1200m at the Vaal racecourse on Saturday.
Trained by Paul Peter, the Alado Project bred colt made it three wins from just four outings with a smooth score as the 8-10 tote favourite.

Palace Chapel, who had impressed when winning on debut by two and a quarter lengths, was described as a top-class horse by his conditioner after the win and the Potala Palace colt looks destined for bigger and better things.

Potala Palace’s relatives also continue to fare well overseas, with his high class close relative Midnight Crossing making 400 000 guineas at the recent Tattersalls December Mare Sale.  A daughter of Dark Angel, Midnight Crossing –whose dam  Line Ahead is a half-sister to Potala Palace – won three times including the G3 Robert J Frankel Stakes.

A son of Singspiel, the G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winning Potala Palace is a half-brother to current unbeaten star Front And Centre, a leading contender for Saturday’s G1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas.
