Thursday double for Querari

20th October 2023

Maine Chance Farms’ G1 winning stallion Querari has had a good week, and the son of Oasis Dream’s good form continued when Querari came up with two winners at the Vaal on Thursday.
Querari struck first on Thursday when his Sean Tarry trained son Kambalu won the third race on the card.
Under a fine ride from Piere Strydom, four-year-old Kambalu was quickly sent to the lead with Strydom content to make the running in Thursday’s Book A Table Call 0116811796 Maiden Plate (1800m).
Despite being challenged by runner up Emblem Of War close home, the gelded Kambalu kicked away again in the closing stages before going on to win by a length and three-quarters.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Kambalu, who had finished second over 1600m previously, is out of the Jet Master mare Tigress.
His sire’s second success on Thursday came when Querari gelding Life Goes On captured the eighth and final race run at the Vaal on the day.
Third over 1200m last time out, the Clinton Binda trained six-year-old made much of the running, under a good ride from Siyanda Sosibo, and stayed on nicely to claim Thursday’s Next Vaal Racemeeting Thursday 26 October MR 72 Handicap (1000m) by just under a length and a half.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Life Goes On has now won five times.
The gelding is out of the Silvano mare Lily Lei and is thus bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners Cosmic Light, Homely Girl and Wonderwall.
Twice Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa, Querari had also enjoyed success this week when his son Formagear scored over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.
Sire of G1 winners Bavarian Beauty, Querari Falcon and champion Rio Querari, Querari has six lots on offer at Sunday’s Cape Racing Ready To Run And Unbroken Two Year Old Sale and a further six two-year-olds on offer at the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.
