Thursday treble for Dynasty

9th Nov 2018

Ridgemont Highlands’ four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty enjoyed a memorable day at the Vaal on Thursday, when the former Horse Of The Year was responsible for a trio of winners.
Dynasty gelding Sovereign Reign, bred by Al Adiyaat, picked up the seventh win of his career when prevailing in a thrilling finish to a handicap over 1500m.

Trained by David Nieuwenhuizen, Sovereign Reign, unplaced just once in his last nine starts, scored by a neck in Thursday’s race.
The durable seven year-old, who has won or placed in 25 races, has now earned just a tick under R500 000.

Sovereign Reign’s paternal half-brother Wonderous Climber, a R1 000 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, provided trainer Sean Tarry with one of his three wins on the day.
Bred by Highlands, the gelding came from off the pace to score by two and a half lengths, under Lyle Hewitson (with Hewitson also enjoying a treble of winners on Thursday).

Dynasty’s third winner on the day came when his 3yo son Protea Paradise romped home to shed his maiden for trainer Mike de Kock and jockey Gavin Lerena.
Making just his second racecourse appearance, the regally bred Protea Paradise ran out a ready winner, by nearly four lengths, when landing a maiden plate over 1600m for breeders Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein.

Dynasty’s G1 winner Eyes Wide Open

Dynasty, whose G1 Investec Cape Derby/G1 Premiers Champion Stakes winning son Eyes Wide Open is a runner in Sunday’s Cape Mile, enjoyed more success last Saturday when his Justin Snaith trained son Belgarion made a winning debut at Kenilworth.

The sire of eight Equus Champions, Dynasty has a single lot on offer at this month’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
