Trippi grandson shines at Spring Sale

11th June 2020

Hugely promising young sire Not This Time, who was produced by a daughter of Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi, made headlines at Wednesday’s session of the 2020 Ocala Breeders’s Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in training.

A daughter of Not This Time, offered as Hip 1254, was knocked down to Gary Young for $1.35 million to top Wednesday’s session.

“Obviously with her work time and everything else, she was unbelievable and she looked good in the barn,” Young said. “My client, I had him on the phone, and originally we were going to $1 million and he said, ‘Keep going, keep going.’ There were a couple of times that I thought we were on our last bid, but he bid again. I liked her a lot. The sire showed a lot of nice horses, but this one stood out. We will see what happens.”

Not This Time, a brilliant, eight and three quarter length winner of the 2016 G3 Iroquois Stakes at two -his only season to race, has made a fine start to his stud career.
The son of Giant’s Causeway and the Trippi sired G3 Winning Colors Stakes winner Miss Macy Sue, is currently North America’s Leading First Crop Sire by stakes.

His broodmare sire Trippi recently made waves when his exciting son Wild Coast scored an impressive win in the G2 World Sports Betting Guineas to become his sire’s 76th stakes winner.
