Drakenstein Stud’s champion resident stallion Trippi was represented by his sixth South African winner since Saturday when his consistent son Tribal Fusion won the Fever Tree Stakes (Non-Black Type) at Scottsville on Wednesday.

The Favour Stud bred gelding maintained his unbeaten record over 1400m at Scottsville with a fluent win in Wednesday’s R130 000 feature, with Tribal Fusion scoring a  1.5 lengths win under jockey Anton Marcus.

Trained by Shane Humby, the lightly raced six-year-old took his earnings to over R590 000 with his Fever Tree Stakes victory.

The soul of consistency, Tribal Fusion, his sire’s only runner at Scottsville on Wednesday, has won or placed in 15 of his 18 races to date.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi has been enjoying an excellent run of success of late, with his recent winners including exciting two-year-old filly Vandah’s Spirit.
The latter made it two wins, from only three starts, when landing a juvenile plate for fillies by four lengths at Kenilworth on Saturday, and Vandah’s Spirit looks a likely future feature race contender in the making.

Trippi, the sire of nearly 150 black type performers to date, also had a double at Kenilworth on Tuesday when his sons Crome Yellow and Bwana won the sixth and seventh races respectively.
