Japanese champion, and Mauritzfontein resident, Danon Platina has been in good form of late.
The son of Deep Impact’s good run continued when Danon Platina came up with two more winners at the Vaal on Tuesday. With the sire having only two runners on the card, Danon Platina enjoyed a 100% strike rate at the Vaal.
His first success came when his daughter Panthera Uncia stormed home to claim the In Memory Of Belinda Victor Work Riders Maiden Plate (F and M) by more than two lengths under Sam Mosia.
Bred by Clifton Stud, three-year-old Panthera Uncia is out of the Joshua Dancer mare Samba Serenade.
Danon Platina is also the sire of Like A Prayer, who won the eighth and final race on Tuesday.
The Tony Peter trained filly turned the Next Racemeeting Thursday 15 May Work Riders Maiden Plate (F and M) into a procession, with Like A Prayer romping home to score by more than four and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the three-year-old is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Beautiful Muriel.
Danon Platina looks to have some very promising two-year-olds this season. Among them are Whispering Death, winner of two of just three starts, and Mighty Eagle, who broke his maiden impressively at Turffontein on Sunday.
The champion shares his legendary sire Deep Impact with outstanding six time G1 winner Auguste Rodin (among many others). The latter, who is set to shuttle to Waikato Stud for a first time this year, was a G1 winner at two, three and four.
