Former Horse Of The Year, and Drakenstein Stud resident, Futura is enjoying another good season in 2022-2023 and the champion son of Dynasty struck again when supplying two more winners at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Tuesday.
Futura sons Future Turn and The Futurist provided their sire with a back-to-back double at Durbanville, where Future Turn won the fifth race and his paternal half-brother triumphed in the sixth.
The Justin Snaith trained Future Turn powered home, under a superb ride from Richard Fourie, to get up close home and land Tuesday’s playtabonline.co.za Class 4 (1600m) by nearly a neck, going away. The progressive Future Turn was winning for a second time, with the consistent gelding having finished unplaced just once in 12 starts.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, three-year-old Future Turn is out of the Pivotal mare Pin Turn.
Four-year-old The Futurist, trained by Brett Crawford, provided his sire with his second win on Tuesday when sweeping home to claim the spoils in the Cape Turf Club Cape B Stakes (1800m) in smart style. Under Craig Zackey, the four-year-old got up to win by nearly half a length.
Bred by Pete Carolin, The Futurist has now won four times.
Futura is also sire of Futurewolff, who claimed the second win of his career when scoring at Turffontein on Saturday.
Also sire of recent feature race winners Rockpool (G3 Politician Stakes), Ekoria (Breeders Guineas), and Thefutureisbright (Durbanville Cup), Futura has 14 lots on offer at this year’s National Yearling Sale including a half-brother (Lot 56) to Equus Champion Gabor, a half-sister (Lot 77) to current high-class performers Infinite Wonder and Without Quest, and a filly (Lot 142) out of the Silvano sired G2 SA Oaks winner Wind Chill.
