South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight, doubly represented in Saturday’s G1 Cape Guineas, continues to churn out winners all over the country, and the son of More Than Ready supplied two more winners at the Vaal on Tuesday.

Gimmethegreenlight’s first winner on Tuesday came in the form of his gelded son Imperious Light, with the latter victorious in Tuesday’s first race.
Under Thomas Ncume, three-year-old Imperious Light stayed on strongly to shed his maiden when scoring by three lengths over 2400 metres.

Trained by Mike de Kock, the Lammerskraal Stud bred gelding was making his fourth start on Tuesday.

Gimmethegreenlight’s second success on Tuesday came when his talented daughter Crimson Causeway won the seventh race on the card.
Under Kaidan Brewer, the Gavin Van Zyl trained Crimson Causeway was always up with the pace in Tuesday’s 1200m race and fought off a challenge from Ramchandani Road to win by three-parts of a length.

Bred by Patricia Devine Investments (Pty) Ltd, Crimson Causeway, who has either won or been placed in five of her seven starts, showed very smart form at two -finishing third in the G2 Prosport International Debutante and fourth in the G1 Allan Robertson Championship.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2020-2021, Gimmethegreenlight is having another great year this season, with the Varsfontein Stud resident’s runners having already earned over R3.529 million in 2021-2022.
