Tuesday double for The United States

29th May 2024

Moutonshoek’s bang inform stallion The United States, fresh off supplying two winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday, came up with another double when his offspring won the first two races at the Vaal on Tuesday.
His first success came when The United States filly Teo Torriatte won the first race on the card for Chris Jonker and Kabelo Matsunyane.
Bred by Moutonshoek, Teo Torriatte had finished second and fourth in her two starts prior to Tuesday’s win.
The filly is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Welsh Kitten.
The United States is also the sire of Vava Vegas, who won for a third time when landing the second race at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Trained by Jannie Borman, four-year-old Vava Vegas was steered to victory by Brevan Plaatjies. The gelding, who is out of the National Emblem mare Thekkady, was bred by the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud.
Winner of the G1 Ranvet Stakes, The United States has been enjoying a great run of form of late. Not only did his sons The US Of A and Nevada King both win on Sunday, but his two-year-old daughter Rodeo Drive made a big impression when romping home to a facile maiden win recently. The Sean Tarry-trained Rodeo Drive runs in Saturday’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship.
Also sire of the likes of Sheela, Without Question and Billy Bowlegs, The United States has a single lot on offer at the Cape Racing Winter Yearling Sale and eight yearlings on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale.
