Drakenstein Stud’s in-form stallion Trippi, whose three South African winners over the weekend included the very exciting filly Vandah’s Spirit, enjoyed a quick, mid-week double when his sons Crome Yellow and Bwana won the sixth and seventh races respectively at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

Remarkably, Bwana and Crome Yellow were the only runners at Kenilworth on the day for Trippi!

Crome Yellow, one of two winners on the day for trainer Andre Nel, made it win number two from his last three starts when staying on gamely to defeat the blue blooded 3yo Nexus by a short head over 1600m.
Ridden by Keagan De Melo, the Sabine Plattner bred and owned gelding was a facile maiden winner two starts back when romping home by nearly five lengths over 1600 metres.

His paternal half-brother Bwana is one of the most consistent geldings in training, and the four-year-old made it win number five when making all to score a three-parts of a length win over 1200m on Tuesday.
One of two winners on Tuesday for trainer Brett Crawford, the Drakenstein Stud bred Bwana, a winner of his last two in a row, has won or placed in all but one of his 12 starts and Tuesday’s win took Bwana’s earnings to over R350 000 –with the promise of more to come.

His champion sire Trippi has been enjoying another good season in 2018-2019, with his runners including such graded stakes winners as Love To Boogie (Diana Stakes) and promising 3yo Chimichuri Run (Spring Spree Stakes), as well as the very promising filly Vandah’s Spirit.

Trippi is also set to be represented as a broodmare sire in this Saturday’s G2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes by G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes winner Signalman.
