Maine Chance Farms’ sensational stallion Vercingetorix dominated proceedings at the Vaal on Tuesday, when three of the eight races run were won by progeny of Vercingetorix.
Vercingetorix struck in the first race on Tuesday when his two-year-old daughter Mrs Geriatrix made a winning debut over 800 metres.
One of four winners at the Vaal for Sean Tarry, Mrs Geriatrix was always prominent in the 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies). Under a confident ride from Calvin Habib, the Vercingetorix filly bested eventual runner up Exchange Student and stayed on to win by half a length.
Bred by Clifton Stud, Mrs Geriatrix is out of the Kahal mare Velvet Glove.
She is the first juvenile winner for Vercingetorix this season, with Vercingetorix’s two-year-old son Xplicit Content finishing second on Tuesday.
Vercingetorix came up with a second winner on Tuesday when his Sean Tarry trained daughter Midnight Crystal bolted up to win the fifth race in facile fashion.
Sent for home a long way by Calvin Habib, the Rous Bros bred filly stormed away to land the 4Racing.TV Maiden Plate (1600m) by five and a quarter lengths.
Three-year-old Midnight Crystal is out of the Galileo mare Sehaba.
Her sire struck yet again when Vercingetorix gelding Vegas Hi Rise won the eighth and final race at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Trained by Fabian Habib, Vegas Hi Rise stormed home, under Kabelo Matsunyane, down the centre of the track to win Next Turffontein Racemeeting 20 December MR 96 Handicap by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Birch Bros, the four-year-old has now won four times from 12 starts.
Runner up on the South African General Sires List last season, Vercingetorix is set to be represented by his champion son Cousin Casey in Saturday’s G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas.
