Two more for Twice Over

2nd Oct 2017

Klawervlei Stud’s in-form young stallion Twice Over, responsible for last week’s impressive debut winner Virginia Moon, had another weekend to remember when responsible for a pair of winners in two different provinces.

Twice Over

His consistent son Draugluin was rewarded for consistency when he won the first, and only race run, at Greyville on Friday night.
Bred by the Heversham Park Stud, Draugluin dug down deep to best the challenge of runner up Midnight Messenger and score his maiden win for owners Mr & Mrs Kotze over 1400m. The gelding has now won or placed in all four of his outings and clearly acts on both turf and polytrack.

His trainer Dennis Drier has good reason to be a fan of Twice Over-as the four time G1 winner is also responsible for the Drier trained star Sand And Sea.

Twice Over’s second winner on the weekend came in the form of the Dean Kannemeyer trainer Redial, who ran on nicely to break his maiden at just the second time of asking at Durbanville on Saturday.
Making his first outing at the newly revamped Durbanville and trying the 1400m for a first time, Redial won a smart race by a length and a quarter for owners Messrs Drew & Kantor, Mesdames Doyle, Nagle, & Shanahan, who race Redial in partnership with the colt’s breeders, Klawervlei Stud.

Redial was a R700 000 buy from the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

A European champion and dual winner of the G1 Champion Stakes, Twice Over has also enjoyed constant success in sales rings around South Africa in 2017, with a colt by him fetching R2.1 million at this year’s Cape Premier Yearling and another Twice Over colt topping the 2017 KZN Yearling Sale.
