Maine Chance Farms’ multiple G1 winning stallion Vercingetorix has made a flying start to the new season, and the champion son of Silvano looks to have yet another nice prospect on his hands in the form of Chansonette.

The latter made it two wins from just three starts when scoring an off the pace win at Durbanville on Tuesday afternoon.
One of three winners on the card for trainer Andre Nel and jockey Grant Van Niekerk, Chansonette powered home to get up in the shadow of the post and land Tuesday’s Horse Yr Rainbow Brid/Spec Achiev A Reynolds/Crawford Rix FM 71 Divided Handicap (1600m) by three-parts of a length.

A smart winner on debut, when downing the highly rated Dancetildaylight, Chansonette, third on her only other start, was making her first start since July on Tuesday.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the progressive three-year-old is out of the Querari mare Champery.

Her sire Vercingetorix, whose other three-year-olds this season include the likes of Ambiorix, Honokalani, and Pomp And Power, is currently third on the General Sires List, with his early flag bearers this season including Listed Spring Spree Stakes winner Vaseem.
