Maine Chance Farms’ G1 winning sire Querari is no stranger to siring high-class two-year-olds, with the son of Oasis Dream the Leading Sire of 2Yos in South Africa for 2018-2019.
Querari took his tally of two-year-old winners for the 2019-2020 season to five, when he supplied a pair of juvenile winners at Fairview on Friday afternoon.
His first success on Friday came when his Gavin Smith trained daughter Sugar Gum romped home to a facile four and a half length maiden win over 1000m.
Bred by Dr Ian Heyns, the consistent Sugar Gum had been second in each of her two previous starts.
Querari’s second two-year-old to win on Friday was the Tara Laing trained Wangan Midnight, who justified 12-10 favouritism when running out a courageous winner of Friday’s fourth race, a maiden juvenile plate over 1200m.
Bred and owned by Mr Zeppel, Wangan Midnight had been second in each of his three previous starts.
Already the sire of 36 stakes horses and counting, Querari has now had three juvenile winners in the past two days, with his two-year-old Azzie trained daughter Rapid Fire winning on debut at the Vaal on Thursday.
