Maine Chance Farms’ impressive young stallion Vercingetorix continues to make a big impression on the South African turf, and the former G1 Jebel Hatta winner was at it again this weekend.

Vercingetorix colt Forever Mine made a smart winning debut, when he justified tote favouritism at Turffontein on Saturday.

Trained, like his sire, by Mike de Kock, the Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein bred Forever Mine romped home to score over 1160m on debut by two lengths under a confident ride by Randall Simons.

Forever Mine, who is out of the Spectrum mare Amazing Grace, is the sixth two-year-old winner for Vercingetorix this season, with the sire also responsible for G1 Allan Robertson Championship/Strelitzia Stakes winner Vernichey and feature race contenders Rascallion and Sofia Erin.

South Africa’s Champion 3YO Colt of 2013, Vercingetorix made a flying start with his first crop headed by graded stakes winners African Warrior and Ikigai, G1 Daily News 2000 runner up Padre Pio, and East Cape stakes winners Hooves Of Troy and Viking Moon.
