Maine Chance Farms’ star sire Vercingetorix looks to have yet another top prospect to his name in the form of Spumante Dolce.
The latter made it two wins from two starts when romping home to an impressive win at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained, like her sire and dam, by Mike De Kock, the blue-blooded Spumante Dolce raced towards the back of the field early on in Saturday’s Racehorse Owners Association MR 80 Handicap (1600m).
Under Raymond Danielson, the three-year-old produced a fine turn of foot, which saw Spumante Dolce power home to win as she liked by three and a half lengths.
Bred and owned by Wilgerbosdrift, Spumante Dolce had won her only previous start, when victorious over 1400m at the Vaal in December.
The filly is now likely to be aimed at the 2025 Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara.
A three-part sister to July-winning champion Sparkling Water, Spumante Dolce is out of the Dansili mare Espumanti.
Champion Sire elect for 2024-2025, Vercingetorix has had a phenomenal season thus far, with the Equus Champion already responsible for eight black-type winners this season.
At the time of writing, Vercingetorix runners had already earned more than R13.163 million in 2024-2025.
Vercingetorix could well be poised for another big day this Saturday, with his daughter Double Grand Slam a well-supported favourite for Saturday’s G1 Cartier Paddock Stakes.
The Maine Chance Farms’ resident also has three sons, Oriental Charm, Magic Verse and Rascallion, in Saturday’s R5 000 000 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met.
