Vercingetorix filly makes it two out of three

1st October 2025

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix has made a flying start to the new season.
Vercingetorix’s good run continued at the Vaal on Tuesday where the champion son of Silvano was responsible for two winners.
Vercingetorix looks to have another promising three-year-old in the form of Alpine Jet.

The latter made it two wins from three starts with a smart performance on Tuesday.
Under an inform Muzi Yeni, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained Alpine Jet romped home to land the Betway Spring Challenge 4 October FM 82 Handicap by more than two and a quarter lengths.
A fluent winner on debut, Alpine Jet had finished runner up on her only other start prior to Tuesday’s win.
Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, the filly races for the Wernars family in partnership with Rikesh Sewgoolam.

Alpine Jet, who is out of the Jet Master mare Aquila Jet, was a R1 200 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

She was one of two winners at the Vaal on Tuesday for Vercingetorix. The latter is also responsible for Bellerophon, who ran out an eight and three quarter length winner of Tuesday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Work Riders Maiden Plate (1500m). The lightly raced Bellerophon was making just the third start of his career.
Trained by Fabian Habib, the Ben Botha bred Bellerophon races for Ms K Bezuidenhout, Messrs M G Bothma, Andre Fouche, J Nassif, G J Nassif, G, K & M M Nassif, Adv M Witz & Tri-Deal Sixteen CC (Nom: Mr Z L Nassif).

Champion sire Vercingetorix has seven lots on offer at the Two Year Old Sale.
