Visionaire filly lands Ready To Run Cup

5th Nov 2018

Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Visionaire made headlines at Turffontein on Saturday when his 3yo daughter Vi Va Pi Pa won the R500 000 Emperors Palace Ready To Run Stakes.

Trained by Sean Tarry, the Tmen Stables bred sophomore was given a fine ride by Lyle Hewitson (despite the latter having suffered a nasty fall earlier in the day) to storm home to a long head win over Chijmes, with favourite, and G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Railtrip, two and a half lengths away in third place.

Vi Va Pi Pa, who was collecting the first win in her six race career, has now won or placed in five of her six outings. Her win on Saturday pushed her earnings to over R300 000 with the promise of plenty more to come!

She was produced by the winning Jallad mare Pipatune.

Her sire Visionaire is also responsible for another promising Tarry trained 3yo in the form of In Cahoots.
The latter, bred by the Summerhill Stud, ran third in the G3 Graham Beck Stakes, run on the same card as the Ready To Run Cup.

Visionaire, South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2014-2015 and Leading Second Crop Sire a year later,  also enjoyed success at Sunday’s Emperors Palace Ready To Run Sale, where he ended the one day auction as the Leading Sire by Aggregate.

The G1 winning son of Grand Slam had 30 two-year-olds sell for a gross aggregate of R4.15 million.
