Maine Chance Farms’ bang in form sire Vercingetorix, whose 2yo daughter Naarah maintained her unbeaten record with an impressive win on Tuesday, claimed a double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday.

His lightly raced son Goodtime Guy made it two wins from just four starts, when that three-year-old won Wednesday’s fifth race in fine style. Under apprentice Kyle Strydom, the gelding pulled clear in the closing stages to score by nearly two and a quarter lengths for trainer Gavin Van Zyl and breeders Moutonshoek.

Out of the Var mare Gettna, Goodtime Guy was sold for R260 000 at the Moutonshoek Dispersal Sale.

Vercingetorix’s second success on Wednesday came when his gelded four-year-old son Kings Road won the seventh and penultimate race on Greyville’s card. Under Gabriel Pieterse, the Maine Chance Farms bred Kings Road quickened up strongly in the closing stages to get up close home and score by a long neck over 1000m.

Trained by Clinton Binda, Kings Road, who is out of the Danehill mare Kimberley Coast, has now won three times.

Former Equus Champion Vercingetorix, whose first crop includes no fewer than 15 black type horses , has three lots on the Cape Yearling Sale, and a further eight lots on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
