Ridgemont Highlands’ star miler Canford Cliffs has made a very encouraging start with his first South African crop of two-year-olds this season, and the brilliant son of Tagula supplied two more eye catching two-year-old winners over the past weekend.
Canford Cliffs filly Totally Rocks became the tenth winner to emerge from her sire’s first locally bred and born crop when she won at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Saturday.
Under Sean Veale, the Dennis Drier trained Totally Rocks powered away in the closing stages to win Saturday’s The Home Straight -PMB Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1200m) by over two and three-quarter lengths.
Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, Totally Rocks had finished second on debut and improved on her last effort when finishing fourth.
Canford Cliffs came up with an 11th South African first crop winner when his two-year-old daughter Daisy Buchanan made a stunning, winning debut at Turffontein on Sunday.
Trained by Ashley Fortune, the Ridgemont Highlands bred and owned filly caught the eye romping away to win Sunday’s 4Racing.TV Maiden Plate (F&M) (1000m) by two and a quarter lengths.
The race was a triumph for Canford Cliffs, who was also responsible for runner up Rose Velvet.
