Weekend feature race double for Dynasty

30th Jul 2018

Highlands Stud part of Ridgemont’s outstanding stallion Dynasty enjoyed more big race success over the past weekend.
The former July winning Horse Of The Year had feature race winners at both Fairview and Greyville this weekend, while his multiple G1 winning son Eyes Wide Open showed his class by running third in Saturday’s G1 World Sports Betting Champions Cup.

It’s My Turn

The Highlands Stud bred Eyes Wide Open has now banked over R1.5 million in prize money.

Dynasty’s feature race double was highlighted by his Willem Engelbrecht Jr bred son It’s My Turn’s explosive win in Saturday’s G3 eLan Gold Cup at Greyville.
Controversially excluded from the final 2018 Vodacom Durban July field, It’s My Turn made it three graded stakes wins in a row as he romped home to score a 2.25 length Gold Cup win under recent July winning jockey Anton Marcus.

The 2018 Gold Cup was a great result for Dynasty –sire of both the winner as well as third place finisher Wild Wicket.

Trained, like his great sire, by Dean Kannemeyer, the 5yo It’s My Turn is now the strong contender for the title of Equus Champion Stayer. The gelding, who had won the G1 Investec Cape Derby back in, was coming into Saturday’s race off facile wins in both the G3 DStv Gold Vase and G3 Track And Ball Derby and has now banked R2 801 275 in prize money.

It’s My Turn is bred on the same Dynasty/Jallad cross as G1 winners Liege and Eyes Wide Open, as well as such high class performers as Hashtagyolo, Run For It and Solid Speed.

He is the second Gold Cup winner for Dynasty, who is also responsible for 2010 winner Ancestral Fore.

Dynasty’s first weekend feature race win had come a day prior to the Gold Cup, when his Peter de Beyer bred son Western Wu captured the Veasey’s Engineering College Friendly City Stakes over 1800m at Fairview.
