Boom sire Gimmethegreenlight has enjoyed big success over the past few weeks, with the 2012 G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate’s big race winners including the likes of National Park, Stream Ahead, Simona and Rose In Bloom.

The same day saw Gimmethegreenlight gelding Saltoro Ridge score over 1600m at Greyville on polytrack. The gelded four-year-old scored a 0.9 of a length win for trainer Andre Nel and jockey Gareth Wright, with the Team Valor bred Saltoro Ridge having now won or placed in five races.
Saltoro Ridge’s close relative Vikram, who was bred by the Lammerskraal Stud, added to Gimmethegreenlight’s success when he ran out a cosy one and a quarter length winner, to shed his maiden over 1400m at Kenilworth on Saturday. Runner up at his two previous starts, the 3yo was a R675 000 buy from the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Vikram was one of two Saturday winners for his sire, with Gimmethegreenlight also represented by an eye catching winner at Turffontein on the day. Three-year-old filly Comaneci ran on strongly to score the first win of her career by one and a half lengths, over 1160m, -going away!
