Weekend four timer for Querari

14th September 2020

Maine Chance Farms’ prolific sire Querari enjoyed another fine weekend locally with four of his runners scoring in three different provinces.

His Oldlands Stud bred daughter Fly My Flag made it two wins, from just three starts, when she scored a front running win over 1300m at Fairview on Friday afternoon. A three-year-old full-sister to Querari’s multiple graded stakes winning son Kangaroo Jack, Fly My Flag had shed her maiden at her previous start when romping home to a facile eight and a quarter length win over 1200m, and the Sharon Kotzen trained filly is now unbeaten in two starts on the polytrack.

Querari’s second winner this past weekend came when his son Back To Black scored a courageous win at Turffontein on Saturday. Bred by the Ten Einde Stud, three-year-old Back To Black dug down deep to break his maiden by a short head when victorious over 1600m. Trained by Dorrie Sham, the gelded Back To Black is out of the Black Minnaloushe mare Black Is Black.
Querari’s good run continued at Hollywoodbets Scottsville the following day, when the G1 winning sire’s supplied the winners of the final two races on Scottsville’s eight race card.

His Yogas Govender trained Arianos Shadow picked up her fourth race when she claimed Sunday’s seventh race, while Querari gelding Farland, also now a four time winner, provided his sire with the perfect end to the weekend when he won the eighth and final race on Sunday.

A son of champion sprinter and top British sire Oasis Dream, Querari himself is currently responsible for more than 40 stakes horses thus far, with his progeny including G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon and millionaires Head Honcho, Kangaroo Jack, Monks Hood and Wonderwall.
