What a week for Master Of My Fate!

25th Jul 2022

Varsfontein Stud’s homebred star sire Master Of My Fate had a big week last week, when the son of Jet Master was not only responsible for five individual winners but also came up with his 100th winner for the 2021-2022 season.

Master Of My Fate

Remarkably, all five of Master Of My Fate’s most recent five winners are two-year-olds!

The stallion’s first success for the week came when his son Innamorare ran out a convincing winner at Kenilworth on Tuesday. The Justin Snaith trained colt was a 1-3 favourie and he duly lived up to expectations with a one and three-quarter length win.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Innamorare had been second in each of his only two previous starts.
His sire’s second success last week came when the Master Of My Fate filly Harley’s Fate made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday. Bred by Boland Stud Grooms, Harley’s Fate flew up late to score on debut by a neck, while accounting for another promising first-timer Maggie Smith.

The Cheveley Stud bred Roy’s T’s who provided Master Of My Fate with a Wednesday double when that two-year-old ran on strongly to shed her maiden tag by nearly half a length at Scottsville. Trained by Kumaran Naidoo, Roy’s T’s appeared to relish the step up to 1950.

Master Of My Fate’s fourth success this past week came when his Varsfontein Stud bred daughter Echo Of Life broke her maiden when victorious OVER 1200 at Fairview on Friday. Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, the two-year-old had finished second in her two previous starts.

Echo Of Life’s paternal half-brother Kitchakal ended the week on a high note for Master Of My Fate, when he won a good race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday. The Duncan Howells trained gelding had finished third on his only previous start and Kichakal made no mistakes on Sunday when running on to score by nearly a length. Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Kitchakal is out of the Fort Wood mare Wild Swan.

It has been a memorable few weeks for Master Of My Fate -whose sons Barak and Mr Master Starter captured the Listed Port Elizabeth Gold Cup and New Turf Carriers eThekwini Sprint respectively in recent weeks.

Second on South Africa’s General Sires List in 2020-2021, Master Of My Fate is currently fourth on the premiership for the current season, with the strapping bay having been responsible for the earners of more than R13.234 million in 2021-2022 thus far.
