Drakenstein Stud’s red hot stallion What A Winter has got some very exciting two-year-olds to his name this season, and this number looks set to include Armando.
The latter made a big impression when romping home on debut at Durbanville on Saturday, where Armando scored a four length win in a maiden juvenile plate over 1250 metres.

Trained by Brett Crawford, the Lammerskraal Stud bred colt was a R650 000 buy from the 2018 National Yearling Sale.

Armando is the seventh juvenile winner for his triple Equus Champion sire What A Winter this season, with others include the debut winners Chilly Winter and Fly Away and What A Winter currently ranks as the Leading Sire of 2Yos for 2018-2019, by prize money, thus far.

South Africa’s Champion First Crop Sire of 2016-2017, What A Winter made a blistering start to his stud career, with the four time G1 winner’s early crops yielded such high class performers as G1 Bidvest Majorca Stakes winner Clouds Unfold, the multiple stakes winning pair of Dutch Philip and Magical Wonderland, G1 performer Warrior’s Rest, and Listed Ibhayi Stakes hero Fabian.
