Varsfontein Stud’s top-class stallion Master Of My Fate came up with his 30th stakes winner on Saturday.
Master Of My Fate’s two-year-old daughter Golden Palm provided her sire with his landmark feat when she won the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Nursery (1160m) at Turffontein.
Golden Palm is the second daughter of Master Of My Fate to win the SA Fillies Nursery, with Basadi Faith having prevailed in the 2019 renewal.
Trained by Alan Greeff, and ridden by Richard Fourie, Golden Palm made it two wins from three starts with a fluent win on Saturday.
Always up with the pace, the two-year-old quickened up nicely to score by just over two and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Golden Palm was a R260 000 buy from the 2024 August Two Year Old Sale.
The filly is out of the Var mare Croisette and is thus bred on the same Master Of My Fate/Var cross as champion Tempting Fate.
Golden Palm joins unbeaten Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery winner Anotherdanceforme as two-year-old stakes winners for Master Of My Fate this season.
The Varsfontein Stud bred and based Master Of My Fate came up with his 31st stakes winner on the same card, when his four-year-old daughter My Soul Mate won the Listed 4Racing Caradoc Gold Cup. Runner up in both the 2024 G2 Wilgerbosdrift Bridget Oppenheimer SA Oaks and 2024 G2 TAB Igugu Stakes, the Candice Dawson trained filly showed plenty of heart when staying on gamely to win Saturday’s 2850m feature by a neck.
Bred and owned by Varsfontein Stud, the four-year-old My Soul Mate, who is out of the Captain Al mare Secret Obsession, is bred on the same cross as graded stakes winners Basadi Faith and Pretty Betty.
