Two out of three for The United States relative

16th July 2019

Promising two-year-old Walk In Marrakesh, a filly closely related to Moutonshoek’s G1 winning stallion The United States, made it two wins from three starts when she scored a facile victory at Ayr on Monday.
The filly who bettered a June 6 debut second over six furlongs at Haydock with a breakthrough score upped to an extended seven at Beverley last time, was sharpest into strideand led from the outset of Monday’s seven furlong novice stakes.

Dispatched the 4-6 favourite, Walk In Marrakesh was nudged into a clear lead entering the final furlong and pushed out in the closing stages to easily account for Alix James by five lengths.

A daughter of Siyouni (by Pivotal), Walk In Marrakesh is out of the Shamardal mare Walk In Beauty –whose dam Zelda also ranks as the granddam of outstanding producer and G3 Prix d’Arenberg winner Beauty Is Truth (by Pivotal).

The latter is the dam of three G1 winners to date, including G1 Ranvet Stakes scorer The United States and this season’s dual classic winner Hermosa (like The United States, sired by Galileo). The latter, second in the G1 Coronation Stakes last time out, holds entries in all of the G1 Kerrygold Irish Oaks, G1 Qatar Nassau Stakes, G1 Juddmonte International, G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks, G1 Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes (a race won by her full-sister Hydrangea) and the G1 QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes.
