Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning stallion What A Winter had a tremendous season in 2019-2020 and the multiple Equus Champion’s good form continued at Kenilworth on Saturday.

What A Winter supplied a pair of winners at Kenilworth, with his brilliant daughter Clouds Unfold landing the eighth race and son Arctic Drift victorious in the ninth and final race.
Winner of the G1 Bidvest Majorca Stakes in 2019 and 2020, the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned Clouds Unfold showed her well being when powering home from off the pace to land a very competitive looking conditions plate, for fillies and mares, over 1200m. In landing Saturday’s race, five-year-old Clouds Unfold took her tally of wins to nine, while accounting for such G1 winners as Missisippi Burning and Silvano’s Pride.
Clouds Unfold, who has earned well over R2 200 000 in stakes, looks a leading contender for some of the Cape’s bigger feature races this season.
Her paternal half-brother Arctic Drift provided What A Winter with a second success on the Kenilworth card when he won the last race on the card, while accounting for promising 3yos Contact Zone and Lion’s Head. Bred by Highlands, the gelded Arctic Drift was winning for a second time when he scored on Saturday.
Both Clouds Unfold and Arctic Drift are trained by Candice Bass-Robinson and both horses were ridden to victory by Aldo Domeyer.
What A Winter, who was responsible for three individual G1 winners last season, has 9 lots on the upcoming CTS Ready To Run, Unbroken 2 Year Old & Mixed Sale.
