The Black Swan Stud’s inform stallion Elusive Fort, who had such a memorable season in 2020-2021, had another big payday when his three-year-old daughter Big Burn captured Saturday’s Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (Non-Black Type) (1400m) at Turffontein.

Under former champion jockey Warren Kennedy, the Paul Peter trained Big Burn got off to a flier and went out to make all in Saturday’s R400 000 race.
The Narrow Creek Stud bred filly kept going resolutely, with Big Burn staying on strongly to hold off favourite Supreme Quest and win by just over a length and a quarter.

Big Burn claimed her second win, from just three starts, in a time of 85.22 seconds.

Out of the Argonaut mare Ignition Lady, Big Burn is a full-sister to G2 Dingaans/G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes hero Catch Twentytwo, who ran second in last weekend’s G1 HKJC World Pool Champions Cup.

Her sire Elusive Fort, a triple G1 winner and Equus Champion, had a notable year in 2020-2021 with his flagbearers headed by G1 Vodacom Durban July winner Kommetdieding. The latter, a winner of five of just seven starts, has been nominated for two Equus Awards.

A son of Fort Wood, Elusive Fort has seven lots on offer at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale.
