G1 success for Alado relative

9th August 2021

Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud’s resident Danzig horse Alado gained yet another notable update to his stellar pedigree when his close relative Alpinista captured the G1 LONGINES 131st Grosser Preis Von Berlin at Hoppegarten on Sunday.

A four-year-old daughter of Frankel, Alpinista (whose triple G1 winning granddam is a full-sister to the dual G1 Champion Stakes winning dam of Alado) came into Sunday’s contest having captured  the G2 bet365 Lancashire Oaks, and she established herself as a hugely valuable broodmare prospect with an impressive performance.

Settled fourth early by Luke Morris as Godolphin’s G2 Dubai City of Gold scorer Walton Street  cut out the running, Alpinist was launched in early straight to swamp her neighbour passing the 300-metre marker. Pulling clear on the run to the line, the grey had an authoritative 2 3/4- length margin to spare in Sunday’s race.

One of 18 G1 winners for her sire, Alpinista has now won five of her ten starts, with the filly having captured the Listed British Stallion Studs EBF Upavon Fillies’ Stakes last year.

Alado and Alpinista both trace back directly in female line to the legendary Mumtaz Mahal, whose numerous high-class descendants include such breed shaping stallions as Nasrullah and Royal Charger.
