Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Vercingetorix has been in tremendous form of late, with his three-year-olds Fifty Fiver and Pomp And Power landing the CTS De Grendel Ready To Run Stakes and G2 Concorde Cup respectively, and the champion son Silvano enjoyed more success at Kenilworth on Wednesday when his daughter Twilight Hour made a winning debut over 1200 metres.

Three-year-old Twilight Hour made a big impression in Wednesday’s Welcome To Cape Racing Maiden Plate (F&M), with the Adam Marcus trained filly romping home to win, as she liked, by three and a quarter lengths.

Ridden to victory by Craig Zackey, the Maine Chance Farms bred and owned Twilight Hour accounted for some well bred fillies on debut, and she looks a filly worth watching.

Out of the Spectrum mare Tachina, Twilight Hour is a three-parts sister to G2 Gauteng Guineas winner and G1 SA Classic runner up Tellina.

Her G1 Jebel Hatta winning sire Vercingetorix proved popular at the recent November Two Year Old Sale, where two-year-olds by Vercingetorix made up to R620 000.

His success in the sales ring is reflected by his consistent success on the racetrack, with Vercingetorix currently heading the South African General Sires List.
